Asian Country Style Ribs

These Asian Country Style Ribs are tender and juicy, slow simmered in the slow cooker crock pot and topped with a sticky honey, hoisin, and garlic sauce. Sprinkle on sesame seeds and chopped green onions for garnish.

This small batch recipe for two makes a great lunch, dinner, or impressive and romantic date night dinner.

Why I love this recipe

These country style pork ribs are super easy with just 5 minutes of prep. The best part is letting them slow cook all day. If you like a bit of spicy heat try adding cayenne pepper, Chinese mustard, or red pepper flakes.

Pro Tips

Country ribs usually have a lot of fat, which means they taste best when they’re cooked low and slow. The longer they cook, the more the fat renders out which results in smooth and fall off the bone tender ribs.

Recipe FAQs

Why are my country-style ribs tough?

If your boneless pork ribs are chewy, you may not have cooked them long enough. If your ribs are dry, you likely cooked them too hot and fast.

Love it, but needs some heat. Add red pepper flakes and more garlic. Even more Sweetness would be nice... Just needs more flavor.

The recipe calls for 1/8 cup tablespoons hoisin sauce. Is it cup or tablespoon?

Hi Debora, I'm so sorry for the confusion. It is 1/8 cup and I have updated the recipe card. Thank you for bringing this to my attention :)

Made this as written for the crock pot, temp on low. I shredded meat into chunks. Served as tacos in white corn tortillas, topped with a simple coleslaw. It was delicious and I had enough for another dinner! Great recipe!

Can this be doubled or is that too much cornstarch?

Zona

Sunday 7th of May 2023

Hi David, you can try using just 1/8 cup cornstarch for a doubled recipe. If it isn't thick enough for your liking you can always repeat the slurry instructions adding another 1/8 cup cornstarch.
