Why I love this recipe
We first made this creamy white chicken chili recipe when my son was learning how to cook. Each week he would choose a recipe that he wanted to make and I would supervise while he prepared our dinner. We love this down-sized White Chicken Chili recipe so much that it has become a regular in our house ever since.

Ingredients
(amounts are listed in the recipe card at the bottom of the post)
boneless skinless chicken
medium onion
garlic powder
salt
ground cumin
dried oregano
black pepper
cayenne pepper (for heat – optional)
great northern beans
chicken broth
diced green chiles
sour cream
heavy cream

How to make creamy Chicken Chili
Step 1 – On a cutting board, dice the chicken and onion and add them to the crock pot. Click for a 4 quart crockpot slow cooker.

Step 2 – Add in the garlic powder, salt, ground cumin, oregano and pepper. If you are also using cayenne pepper, add that in now too.

Step 3 – Stir in the beans, green chiles, and broth until combined.

Step 4 – Set the slow cooker to low heat and cook for 7 or 8 hours, or high heat for 4 hours.
Step 5 – Right before serving, turn the heat off and add in the sour cream and heavy cream. Stir until well combined.

Step 6 – Serve and enjoy!

Ingredients
- 8 ounces boneless skinless chicken
- 1/3 medium onion
- 1 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 teaspoon ground cumin
- 1/2 teaspoon dried oregano
- 1/8 teaspoon black pepper
- 1/8 teaspoon cayenne pepper (for heat - optional)
- 15.5 ounces great northern beans (rinsed and drained)
- 2/3 cup chicken broth
- 4 ounces diced green chiles (do not drain)
- 1/3 cup sour cream
- 1/8 cup heavy cream
Instructions
- On a cutting board, dice the chicken and onion and add them to the crock pot.
- Add in the garlic powder, salt, ground cumin, oregano and pepper. If you are also using cayenne pepper, add that in now too.
- Stir in the beans, green chiles, and broth until combined.
- Set the slow cooker to low heat and cook for 7 or 8 hours, or high heat for 4 hours.

It was a little soupy, but next time I’m going to try not draining the beans & see if that makes a difference. The taste was amazing either way! My husband couldn’t stay away from it! I couldn’t either!
