Ingredients

  • 8 thick slices of Texas toast bread (or brioche, etc.)
  • 2 large eggs
  • ½ cup whole milk
  • 2 teaspoons sugar
  • ½ teaspoon pure vanilla extract
  • ¼ teaspoon cinnamon
  • pinch of salt
  • 4 Tablespoons butter

Instructions
 

  • Preheat a 16-inch electric skillet to medium-low heat at 325 degrees F.
  • Whisk the eggs, milk, vanilla, sugar, cinnamon, and a pinch of salt in a shallow dish big enough for the bread to lie flat.
  • Melt the butter in the skillet.
  • Dip each slice of Texas Toast bread into the egg mixture, flipping them over to coat both sides and place in the skillet.
  • If the skillet is big enough, place all of the coated bread slices in the pan and fry for about 4 – 5 minutes per side. If the skillet isn’t big enough, fry the slices in batches but the total time for the recipe will increase.
  • Serve topped with pats of butter and syrup or your favorite toppings.
