How to make Chocolate Covered Strawberries:

Rinse the strawberries, and then pat them very dry with paper towel.

Stove top directions:

In a small saucepan over low heat, melt the chocolate chips together with the shortening until smooth, stirring often.

Microwave directions:

In a small microwave-safe bowl, combine the chocolate chips and shortening.

 

Microwave on high about 1 minute or until melted, stirring every 30 seconds.

Dip the strawberries 2/3 into the melted chocolate mixture.  Shake gently to remove excess chocolate.

 

Place them on the prepared baking sheet at least 1 inch apart.

 

Chill in the refrigerator until firm, about 1 hour.
