How to make Chocolate Donuts at home
Preheat the oven to 350 degrees.
Spray 4 slots of a donut pan with non-stick spray. Click for a donut pan.
In a small bowl, whisk together the milk and vinegar. This makes homemade buttermilk. Set aside for about 5 minutes.
In a medium bowl, whisk together the flour, special dark cocoa powder, and baking soda.
In a separate bowl, mix together the homemade buttermilk, sugar, egg yolk, butter, and vanilla until well combined.
Add the wet ingredients to the dry ingredients and mix until just combined. Do not over-mix.
Pour the batter into the donut pan.
Bake the donuts for 8-10 minutes or until cooked through.
Allow the donuts to cool completely on a wire rack.
Place the chocolate chips, butter, corn syrup, and water in a medium bowl.
Melt in 20-second increments in the microwave, stirring after each time, until completely melted and smooth.
Dip the tops of the donuts into the chocolate glaze.

I made these chocolate baked donuts. They were pretty dry, needs more moisture badly. I followed the recipe exactly. My husband and I were disappointed🥲

Hi Carlene, I'm unsure why that would happen as these always come out very moist for me. It could be due to a difference in how the flour is measured like maybe the flour was more compacted in your measuring cup. Either way, I am very sorry you were disappointed.

I don’t use corn syrup. What can I use?

Hi Donna, we have the best results with corn syrup, but if you are completely against using it, some common substitutes for corn syrup you can try are agave, honey, or maple syrup. Thanks for your question and enjoy :)

I usually have buttermilk on hand, could I use that instead of combining milk and vinegar?
