We use a double-sided flipping waffle iron so they are cooked and done all at the same time. No need to keep one warm while waiting for the second one to cook.

Belgian Waffle vs. Regular Waffle

Belgian waffles have deeper pockets than American-style waffles, which makes them great for holding lots of little pools of syrup and fruit toppings. The texture is lighter and crispier. They require a Belgian waffle maker with a deeper, larger grid pattern. Most Belgian waffle recipes are yeast-based, to get that crispy texture, but our waffle batter has baking powder for leavening and beaten egg whites for lightness.

Belgian Waffles toppings:

Butter and any flavor of Jam or Jelly
Butter and Maple Syrup
Nutella Spread, Chocolate sauce, or Hot Fudge
A light dusting of Powdered Sugar
Any flavor of Ice Cream
Sliced or Caramelized Bananas
Sliced Strawberries and Whipped Cream
Raspberries or Blueberries and Whipped Cream
Whipped Cream and Sprinkles
Cream Cheese Icing
