Lava Flow Drink

This Lava Flow Drink is creamy and smooth with strawberries, coconut, and pineapple flavors for a refreshing tropical drink. Also known as Strawberry Pina Colada, this small-batch Hawaiian drink recipe for two makes an impressive romantic date night drink.

How to make this Lava Flow recipe

Blend the rum, strawberries, and sugar in a blender to form a smooth slush. Click for a blender.

Pour the mixture into two tall Hurricane-style glasses, divided evenly.

Rinse the blender.

Add the coconut cream and the pineapple juice into the blender with the ice cubes.

I used 8 ice cubes sized 2.5 inches and crescent-shaped. You may need to adjust lower or higher depending on the size of your ice cubes.

Blend until smooth.

Slowly pour the mixture into the glasses with the strawberry mixture, divided evenly. The strawberry mixture will ooze upward toward the top along the sides of the glass creating the flowing lava effect.

Garnish with a pineapple wedge and paper umbrella, if desired.

Ingredients

  • 4 oz coconut rum
  • ½ cup frozen strawberries
  • ¼ cup sugar
  • 4 oz coconut cream
  • 4 oz pineapple juice
  • 8 ice cubes (see notes on size)

Instructions
 

  • Blend the rum, strawberries, and sugar in a blender to form a smooth slush. Click for a blender.
  • Pour the mixture into two tall Hurricane style glasses, divided evenly.
  • Rinse the blender.
  • Add the coconut cream and the pineapple juice into the blender with the ice cubes. See notes for ice cube size.
