Make your own Homemade Chocolate Covered Strawberries with this easy hand-dipped recipe using only 3 ingredients and just 6 or 7 steps. Don’t pay those outrageous prices in a store. This small batch recipe makes a half dozen. The chocolate can be made on the stovetop or in the microwave.
Rinse the strawberries, and then dry strawberries with paper towels.
Cover a small baking sheet or plate with wax paper.
In a small saucepan over low heat, melt chocolate chips together with the shortening until smooth, stirring often.
Dip the strawberries 2/3 into the melted chocolate mixture. Shake gently to remove excess chocolate.
Set strawberries on the prepared baking sheet or plate in a single layer at least 1 inch apart.
Chill in the refrigerator until firm, about 30 minutes.

Notes
The best way to store chocolate-covered strawberries is to leave them out overnight in a cool place if you will eat them within 24 hours. Otherwise, you can store them in the refrigerator in an airtight container for a couple of days.
