Instructions
Preheat the oven to 350 degrees F.
In a bowl, combine the lean ground beef, egg yolk, Italian style bread crumbs, Italian seasoning, onion powder, salt and pepper to taste.
Roll into 8 equal sized balls and place on a small parchment lined baking sheet.
Bake for 20 minutes or until cooked through.
At the same time heat the spaghetti sauce in a medium saucepan and simmer covered 10 minutes.
When the meatballs are done baking, stir them into the spaghetti sauce.
Soften the butter and mix the garlic into it.
Spread the garlic butter mixture on the insides of each roll.
Heat the oven on broil.
Place the hoagie sub rolls on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper and broil open-faced until lightly golden, about 2 minutes.
Remove from the broiler and place 4 meatballs, spaghetti sauce, and mozzarella in each roll.
Broil 1 - 3 minutes or until the cheese is melted. Watch closely so the sub bun doesn’t get darker than you would like.
Serve with additional sauce for dipping if desired.
