Chocolate Donuts with Chocolate Glaze

In a small bowl whisk together the milk and vinegar. This makes homemade buttermilk. Set aside for about 5 minutes.

Whisk together flour, special dark cocoa powder, and baking soda.

In a separate bowl, mix together the homemade buttermilk, sugar, egg yolk, butter, and vanilla until well combined.

Add the wet ingredients to the dry ingredients and mix until just combined. Do not over-mix.

Pour the batter into a donut pan sprayed with non-stick spray. Bake the donuts for 8-10 minutes or until cooked through.

Allow the donuts to cool completely on a wire rack.

Melt the chocolate chips, butter, corn syrup, and water until smooth.

Dip the tops of the donuts into the chocolate glaze. Top with nuts or sprinkles if desired.
