Seared Tuna Salad is easy with thick tuna steaks coated in sesame seeds, and quickly seared. The tuna steaks are sliced thin served on a bed of mixed salad greens and topped with a delicious Asian ginger dressing. Ready in just 20 minutes!
This tuna is served rare, so be sure to use a good quality fresh tuna.

How to make Seared Tuna Salad
For the Asian Ginger Dressing
In an 8 oz. glass jar or larger, combine the garlic, ginger, cooking oil, apple cider vinegar, soy sauce, honey, and water. Click for 8 oz jars.
Cover the jar with a tight fitting lid, and shake well.
Remove the lid, and heat the jar in the microwave for 30 – 45 seconds, just to dissolve the honey.
Let cool, and shake well before serving. Store any leftovers in the refrigerator with the lid in place.
For the Tuna Steaks
In a small bowl, stir together the soy sauce, honey and 1/2 tablespoon cooking oil.
Coat the tuna steaks with the soy sauce mixture.
Then press the sesame seeds on both sides of the steaks to coat.
Preheat 1/2 tablespoon cooking oil in a cast iron skillet over medium high heat until very hot. Click for a cast iron skillet.
Place the tuna steaks in the pan, cover with a mesh splatter screen and sear for about 30 seconds on each side. Click for a mesh splatter screen.
On a cutting board slice the tuna into thin slices.
To assemble the salad
Place the salad greens onto two plates, divided evenly.
Top each with half of the thin sliced tuna steaks.
Generously drizzle each salad with the Asian Ginger Dressing.

Delicious! I added a little toasted sesame oil to the dressing.
